Mutant Jazz celebrates the emerging talent from Liverpool’s live Jazz Spectrum, exposing them to new audiences from the age of 14 years and upwards.
We want to hold monthly Mutant Jazz meet-ups, and Commune is the perfect place.
On 29th May we are bringing my jazz trio back to Commune on Constance Street (formerly Melodic Distraction). The new trio is now called Commun3. It was called Boosterism when we had a residency at The Caledonia. Every month we will rotate one of the members, so please let me know if you want to play in Commun3.
It would be great to understand what is the best frequency to have MJ Community get-togethers, and what issues we need to nail down. Also, if a different day would suit in future, please let’s arrive at something that suits as many people as possible.
Commune is a lovely welcoming safe place round the back of the old TJ Hughes building off London Road. Also in the house, in May, will be DJ Copious Notes spinning jazzy vinyl.
We’ll be there from 7pm setting up so we would be delighted if you could drop by for a chat and to meet others from the Mutant Jazz Community. There will be free Mutant Jazz stickers to help you identify fellow mutants! (everyone loves stickers!!)
The band will be Jab, on drums, Andy Wileman on keys and Fran Mills on bass. Feel free to bring an instrument if you are a player, and jam with us at the end of the evening. You could even bring a vinyl record for Copious Notes to play!
